Where is the American Dream - Speak UP!

Our founding fathers are rolling over in their grave ... speak up and listen up ...the American Dream is floundering in a sea of debt ... more and more hard working people are facing bankruptcy because we need to bail out the "big" guys .... who cares about them?

Patsy and Peter just want to put food on their table and keep the electricity and telephone on ... is that too much to ask of our elected officials?

American Dream ... James Truslow Adams 1931

Historian and writer James Truslow Adams coined the phrase "American Dream" in his 1931 book Epic of America:

The American Dream is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement. It is a difficult dream for the European upper classes to interpret adequately, and too many of us ourselves have grown weary and mistrustful of it. It is not a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position ”


“ The American Dream, that has lured tens of millions of all nations to our shores in the past century has not been a dream of material plenty, though that has doubtlessly counted heavily. It has been a dream of being able to grow to fullest development as a man and woman, unhampered by the barriers which had slowly been erected in the older civilizations, unrepressed by social orders which had developed for the benefit of classes rather than for the simple human being of any and every class."





What happened ... it seems that the Americans that worked hard, built a successful business and rose to the top are being punished by a very vocal minority that are demanding to be "equal". As far as I know, we are all equal, it is a matter of applying yourself to succeed.

This is Democracy, folks

It looks like socialism is in our future ... scares the pants off me ... do YOU care???

The American Dream - Let Freedom Ring!

I grew up believing in the American Dream. If you work hard, start your own business, are nice to you Mother and go to church on Sundays you will be able to live the American Dream. This possibility was open to all Americans ... you just had to work for it ... that made "US", the proud Americans different from the rest of the world.

My friend Patsy, grew up that way, too. Patsy and I have been close since we were youngsters. We shared a lot of the same hopes and aspirations. We even watched "Leave it to Beaver" together ... LOL!

Over the recent years she and her husband, Peter have thrived. Business was good, they invested in real estate ... after all land is a great investment and invested in the stock market .... they weren't extravagant, didn't take expensive vacations ... weren't ones that had to buy the newest car or the have the latest electronics. Peter followed the advice of mentors and had enough money and credit cards saved away to last 18 months if "all hell broke loose"! Sounds like an idyllic life, huh?

Wake up AMERICA!
